Description

This late afternoon scene is in the Saguaro National Park west side, Tucson Mountain District. The park has two areas, one east of Tucson (see prior image) and one on the West side.
The variety of Sonoran desert plants in this scene are Ocotillo (red blooms) & Prickly Pear cactus, Creosote bushes, Cholla cactus, Mesquite and of course the giant Saguaro Cactus that can live to be 200 years old. Apache Peak is in the distance. A Saguaro Cactus has to be at least 75 years old before it starts to form arms. Saguaros over 150 years old can be 50 feet tall and weigh over 16,000 pounds.
GigaPan 'Beta', 119 images, Nikon coolpix P5100 12mp, image size 428"x138".
How many cactus can you count in this image?
