On my way back to Hays from Ellis I decided to take a little detour out of the valley of Big Creek and out onto the surrounding high plains. Nearing a crest of a hill I glanced into my rear view mirror and realized what a sweeping panorama lay benind me. So I pulled off the road (onto an embankment that in no way resembled a true shoulder) and got out the GigaPan rig for to capture the scene. I put a new set of batteries in (though it had been about a week since they were freshly charged). Sure enough, the low battery light came on just 200 shots into a 640 shot panorama. So I trooped back to the car to get another set and waited for the ones in the unit to die. And I waited, and waited, and to my considerable amazement the unit functioned flawlessly for over 400 shots with the low battery light on until it completed the panorama. Some days you just have to count your blessings.
