Now the headquarters for the 11,000 acre Tallgrass Preserve near Strong City, Kansas, this limestone mansion was originally the centerpiece of the Spring Hill Farm and Stock Ranch and home for Stephen F Jones and his wife Louisa. It overlooks the now green Flint Hills of eastern Kansas. A couple of weeks ago the hills were afire as the dry grasses were burned; the next day the ground was black.
