- Description
-
The confluence of two rivers has always been an important place for the people that live along them. This is where the muddy and free-flowing Little Colorado meets the Colorado River. The Little Colorado is not always muddy, though. There are times when it's waters run as blue as the sky because of the calcium carbonate that it picks up from the limestone rock layers that it form its basin. It takes only a bit of rain for the river to swell with silt from its numerous side canyons. When it looks like this the locals refer to it as "too thin to plow, too thick to drink".
Grand Canyon GigaView is a new school virtual tour of the Grand Canyon created with a collection of GigaPan images taken on a private rafting trip in April 2010 and geolocated in Google Earth. Explore the journey grandcanyongigaview.tumblr.com
