Dr. Jeff Pettis, Research Leader at the USDA, prepares to suit up for a Varroa control experiment being conducted at Island Princess Farms in Hilo, Hawaii. The hives you see in the panorama will be treated with various miticides in order to determine which has the greatest potential to control mite levels in honey bee colonies in Hilo's unique climate.
