Description

This small interior panorama of the Lincoln Memorial is taken by hand (no tripod) inside the space. Most indoor and many outdoor spaces in Washington DC forbid tripods, as the police and secret service kept telling me!

Has anyone considered a 1/4" thick aluminum plate with small rubber feet at the corners so you can set it on the ground? Actually, I didn't until just now, since I ordered my GigaPan last night and have been pondering how to do these shots. I figure that a metal plate ~10"x10" sitting on the ground is not tripod-ish in any way so maybe that would work. You'd have a low perspective, but it would work just fine.

It was indeed a total surprise that it worked at all...

Wow - hadn't even thought of trying this handheld. Really the only solution for DC and places with similar restrictions. Some artifacting that the stitcher missed (ex vertical column), but if one was really careful and did some pp work in PS this seems a real alternative.

Where in the World is this GigaPan?
