Kotzebue receives three Alaska Airlines flights each day, weather permitting. The circuit between Anchorage, Kotzebue and Nome can be disrupted by weather, with fog probably a more frequent problem than wind. snow and cold temperatures.
There is a lot of excitement when the plane lands. The flights bring family and friends to Kotzebue. They bring cargo and mail from out of town. They connect us to the rest of the world.
This was a clear day at the beginning of May. The weather is warming and there is even a patch of water showing on the water near the landing strip.
