- Description
-
Part of the rock formation called Devil's Oven, at Devils Hopyard State Park. This particular set of rocks has undergone differential weathering - some parts of the rock weather faster than others - which has left caves in places.
Local folklore has it that during the American Revolution, these caves served as hiding places for the local colonists (or their valuables?) when British troops or loyalists were nearby.
