La calle Mercederes gira noventa grados para embocar la calle Estafeta. Ligeramente cuesta abajo, los toros ven desviado su camino y a veces suelen caer y golpearse contra el vallado en su intento por reconducir la carrera. El suelo está impregnado con resinas para mejorar el agarre de las reses. Esta curva es una de las imágenes más tradicionales del encierro.
