- Description

Chert, exposed here in a roadcut, was deposited on the deep seafloor and accreted to North America as part of the Franciscan Subduction Complex. "Knocker" is the term applied to exposed outcrops of Franciscan rocks in the Coast Ranges of California, as seen at the top right of this GigaPan.
