- Description
-
Minnehaha Creek flows 22 miles (35 km) from Lake Minnetonka to the Mississippi River, coursing over this 53 foot (16 m) waterfall near its end. "Minnehaha" is often translated as "laughing water" but actually is a Dakota word for "waterfall." The creek passes through the western suburbs and southern part of the city of Minneapolis, providing parkland and a place for water sports along its length.
