This image was taken while attending a GigaPan Workshop in October 2009 – my first visit to Pittsburgh and to Carnegie Mellon. I was representing The Land Institute – www.landinstitute.org
– and sharing some of my GigaPan work from Kansas and The Land Institute. The architecture of the area was a thrill for me and I enjoyed this view walking between the hotel and the conference. The morning after the conference brought the sky you see here and the time to attempt this photo. The spot for the tripod was chosen nearer the Chapel for it to share the image equally with the much taller Tower. While Kansas often has skies to match that seen here, much of my GigaPan work there looks to the earth. A site search for ‘stever roots’ will find many of those images. A few are:

Annual ~ Perennial - www.gigapan.org/gigapans/22553/

I would like to thank the GigaPan Team, Pittsburgh’s FINE Foundation, and Carnegie Mellon for the opportunity to work with the GigaPan technology. This image will be (was) on display October 11, 2010 to November 21, 2010 in the Photo Forum Gallery at the US Steel Tower as part of the exhibit “New Perspectives of Pittsburgh” - An exhibition of Gigapan Panoramas of Pittsburgh.
