The Willow Creek fire near Fairbanks, Alaska, on June 23 at 2:30 PM. Lightning started this fire on June 10, 2010 in an uninhabited area 10 miles from the outskirts of Fairbanks. State and federal fire fighters have been attempting to control the fire by air primarily to prevent it from crossing to the north side of the Tanana River (where Fairbanks is). Taken from the George Parks monument overlook.
