The basic lens has an effective 35mm focal length of 142.3mm. The Raynox converter gives a 1.54X boost for an effective focal length of 219mm. It's a tribute to the G10's optics and the Raynox converter that the images are as sharp as they are.

Well there is a gigapan convention/conference thingy at CMU in November I think although I won't be attending because I can't afford to bring my snow plough. Great shot Tom. G10 plus DCR-1540 gives you 5*1.5 = 7.5 zoom? So around 400mm (35mm equivalent)?

You all set a high standard. I'd love to meet up with you and Kilgore, in Hong Kong or wherever. We could invite Gerald Donovan http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/484 92/ and gigapanbot http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/142 35/.

Tom, Maybe one of these days, you and I could meet-up in Hong Kong and take GigaPans like this: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/279 65/ You and I sort of know how to take high altitude panoramas like this for instance: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/349 09/ In fact, what we could do is to have a GigaPan school and invite the world-famous kilgore661 as the main speaker because of his great technique as shown in Zoom Baby, Zoom: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan. php?id=9802 :)

Where in the World is this GigaPan?
