The Flatiron District is a small neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan, named after the Flatiron Building at 23rd Street, Broadway and Fifth Avenue. Generally the Flatiron District can be said to be bounded by 20th Street, Union Square and Greenwich Village to the south; Sixth Avenue and Chelsea to the west; 25th Street and NoMad to the north; Rose Hill to the northeast, and Lexington Avenue/Irving Place, Gramercy Park and the neighborhood of Gramercy to the east.

Event Horizon is the name of public art installation of thirty-one life-size body forms of the artist, Antony Gormley, cast in iron and fiberglass, which inhabit the pathways and sidewalks of Madison Square Park, as well as the rooftops of the buildings that populate New York’s Flatiron District. Gormley's sculptures were installed in New York City at sites around Madison Square, as far downtown as Union Square and as far uptown as the Empire State Building. The installation is sponsored by the Madison Square Park Conservancy.

This photo was taken in the heart of Flatiron, at the confluence of 23rd St, 5th Ave, and Broadway. In the middle sits the cast-iron body that generates a lot of interest. In the hour or so that it took me to complete this panorama, I estimate that at least 20 people had their photo taken next to the statue. A typical sight begins with someone looking with interest at the sculpture on the ground then noticing one of the replicas somewhere high-up on a building -- and then another -- and then another. Can you spot any in this photo?
