Back in 2001 I decided to ride White Rim in a day. I got separated from my party at 7:00 in the morning after a wrong turn and riding 16 extra miles. I crashed a campsite at Airport Rock campground at 9:30 that night. The nice people at the campsite gave me a beer and turkey sandwich, called off the Park Service search and rescue, and let me spend the night in the back of their Forerunner in a borrowed sweatshirt. After breakfast the next morning, I completed the last 18 miles back to the Island in the Sky visitor center. Thanks! My final ride was 126 miles in 27.5 hours.
