- Description

Sunset at Indian Leap between Indian Orchard (Springfield) and Ludlow Massachusetts. The Chicopee River passes through there. The photo taken from the westerly bridge abutment of the structure that supported the water pipes feeding Springfield from the Ludlow Reservoir. To the east was a railroad trestle on the Boston and Albany's Athol Branch - both bridges were built circa 1870's and removed decades ago. The name comes from a legend about local natives leaping to their deaths off the 80-foot high cliffs. The distance between the bridge piers is aproximately 260 feet.
