    Description:

    The back of the body appears to have been increasingly damaged by scavengers. Beyond this point the bones were too scattered and worn by the sea to attempt to keep with the rest of the specimen.

  6. Bite mark

    Description:

    The end of this rib has been sheered by a tooth from a scavenging animal - the tooth has cut through the rib in the direction of pull. The scavenger must have grabbed the stomach and pulled it away.

    The ribs and vertebrae have been pulled out of line, almost certainly due to the actions of predators. Check out the next snapshot for more detail

    Some people have called this 'the praying ichthyosaur' as the front paddles are crossed - only one is partially complete.

    With the jaw buried in the sediment, the weight of the body has snapped the bones of the jaw

    The jaw has nose dived into the soft sediment. The fossil has been cleaned from the underside and as a result the jaw now rises up above the rest of the bones
