Last than a mile off of Route 202 you can take a forest trail to the edge of the Reservoir for a breathtaking view of the northwest side of the Quabbin Reservoir. The Quabbin is the source of drinking water for the City of Boston, Massachusetts. The Reservoir is fed by many smallish rivers and streams. On the far left, is the entrance for the western most branch of the Swift River, the Reservoir's main source of water. Straight ahead is Prescott Penninsula, formerly the Town of Prescott, one of the four towns lost when the Reservoir was flooded in the late 1930's. This image is a composite of 17 Nikon D3x images, taken on a Really Right Stuff Pano Tripod head. This image is copyright (c) 2010, James Hunt Photography, all rights reserved.
