ProteaDorp is a very large informal settlement right next to the village of Kleinmond in the western Cape, about one hour from Cape Town, South Africa. Last week a terrible fire occurred here, where the houses are one-room abodes that rest against one-another. This is a disaster of a huge scale, because with 150 or more houses burnt into nothingness, the people have literally lost everything. I will attempt to set up a way to help, having just flown back to the US from here.
