Grand Rapids Gigarama 2 by Steven Huyser-Honig

This is my entry to ArtPrize 2010, the worlds largest art prize. This image was blended from a total of almost 600 15MB photos taken over the course of a day from an overlook of Grand Rapids, Michigan. My goal was to create a massive print that would capture the dynamics of time and space. Each vertical strip will be printed separately and is a blending of up to 25 photographs. Many are composites using Helicon Focus to create superior depth of field. The strips were created as layered files in PTGui and then blended in PTGui or Photoshop CS5. I included the shadowing to simulate the manner the fabric strips will be displayed along two parallel rails. Each strip measure approximately 8 feet by 15 inches (30,000 px by 4500 px). The entire panorama is about 20 feet wide.
