Wednesday 8 September 2010 - Their Excellencies Ms Quentin Bryce AC, the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, other dignitaries and 4200 former National Serviceman (Nasho’s) and their families attended the dedication ceremony of the new National Service memorial. The ceremony was held at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. The day began with over 2900 former National Servicemen marching across the Parade Ground of the Australian War Memorial reviewed by Lieutenant General Mark Evans AO DSC, representing the Chief of the Defence Force, and concluded with the dedication ceremony of the new memorial.
