Who needs a description for the largest beer festival on earth?
Birthday party
This year the Oktoberfest celebrate a big birthday party. "200 years of Munich Oktoberfest" (from 1810 to 2010). And so all Munich citizens and all fans of the world's largest and greatest beerfestival can celebrate the birthday party extensively.
The Munich Octoberfest is one of the greatest success-stories of Bavarian history. It started in 1810 with the wedding of Crown-Prince "Ludwig I" and his princess "Therese". At that time the royal solemn occasion was celebrated with a five-day party "for the masses". The big festival-party was ended with a horse race out of the city-gates. The "Theresienwiese" wasn't yet in the middle of Munich, but still outside the city walls.
Tip - If your are interested in history, take a sightseeing tour and learn more.
This view is from top of the St. Paul's church right across the street. They are open for public every day during the Oktoberfest.
