Description

The William Allen White Cabins are located in Moraine Park within Rocky Mountain National Park. William Allen White was a highly influential newspaper editor and owner of the Kansas “Emporia Gazette.” In 1912 he purchased the property as a summer home for his family. It was also used for meetings with many prominent leaders of the day such as William Jennings Bryan, Clarence Darrow, and Jane Addams. The property includes a main cabin, two smaller cabins for his children, and a studio from where he wrote his editorials. The property was purchased by the National Park Service in 1972 and today serves as the home for the park’s varoius artists-in-residence.
