So, I was having a pretty rough day yesterday. A lot of things didn't go right at work and otherwise. I had to work late and I was driving from a client's office back to my office through the roundabout on Riverside in front of the Palmer Center. As I circled the large tree in the roundabout the city came into view and a bold, beautiful rainbow appeared right inbetween two of the main sky scrapers in Austin. I thought to myself, "I wish I had time to stop for that!" and continued driving. When I reached the stoplight, an overwhelming feeling told me I was going to really regret it if I didn't go back to get this shot. I whipped the car around and there was a single parking space waiting for me right in front of the vantage point I wanted. I grabbed my camera and tripod and rushed out to the middle of the field. I triple checked my settings and started shooting. 17 shots later, this baby was born.
I walked around the trail awhile longer and stopped to take some HDRs. Some joggers came by and a man asked "Did you set that shot up?" and I said "Yeah, I uh, called my friend... God?". He replied "Well, he's a good one to know."
Editing this guy was extremely challenging. At 22377 x 3851 pixels, my computer had a terrible time handling the 776 MB PSD file. Photoshop crashed a million times and of course, I didn't save often enough. Alas, it finally made it through for the most part and now here it is, ready for you.
The name is taken from a The Go Find song "Sky Window". Listen here listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/Sky Window/1RBkbh
I think about Austin when I hear those lyrics and I definitely had it in my head when I was shooting this. :)
