- Description
-
McDonald Drainage from Bird Woman Overlook, Glacier National Park, MT. A Pacific Maritime climate dominates this drainage west of the Continental Divide. Scoured avalanche chutes are obvious along the steep slopes of the glacially carved valley walls, where their characterisic openess creates habitat for grizzly bears and other wildlife.
Visit the Climate Change in Mountain Ecosystems (CCME) website to learn more about how climate change is effecting Glacier National Park and how USGS scientists are using GigaPan technology to document landscape change.
