The Nature Conservancy’s Hart Prairie Preserve near Flagstaff, Arizona is home to one of the largest open meadowlands west of the San Francisco Peaks. At an elevation of 8,600' it is home to old growth ponderosa pines, a rare community of Bebb willow trees, native shrubs and grasses as well as elk, deer, prairie dogs and numerous species of birds.
