On October 6, 2010, severe thunderstorms in Arizona spawned a number of tornadoes. One of those tornadoes felled trees across a broad area in the Coconino National Forest above the Mogollon Rim. Large pine trees were snapped off or pushed over, opening large holes in the forest canopy.
