Investigating the deformed metamorphic and igneous rocks exposed at Marshall Point in Port Clyde, coastal Maine, formed a project for students in the introductory course Earth & Oceanographic Science 101--Investigating Earth--at Bowdoin College (www.bowdoin.edu/earth-oceanographic-science/index.shtml
). Linked to this Gigapan are field photographs and further explanations of the geological relationships produced by the students. The panorama was taken looking down from an elevated walkway to the Marshall Point Lighthouse (www.marshallpoint.org
/ and gigapan.org/gigapans/40324/) westward onto sub-horizontal exposures of rocks in the intertidal zone. The field of view is about 10 meters across.
