Description

The main gate of the citadel, the IIIrd gate, is a complex structure depicting figurative scenes, battle fragments, captured flags, all inspired by the political and military environment at the time of the construction. On top the statue of emperor Carol the VIth stands above the prison cell that held Horea, the captain of the 1784 peasant rebelion in Apuseni Mountains, before his execution.
