    Same as my other images, it is stitched on a dual Xeon quad-core system (8 cores) with 32G of memory and 6T of hard drive space

    I think to get the ultimate image quality, I need to use larger lens such as 800mm f5.6 or 600mm f4. In both cases, the only panorama head that can handle the weight is clauss radeon hd. The price though is prohibitive. With the same equipment, I think there are other things to be improved. you may want to anticipate a much bigger image coming.     This is a very nice accomplishment and great image! The image detail is actually justifiable on the image size, I get more information as I zoom in all the way, you do not seem to have surpassed the resolving power of your lens significantly.
