3dof, That is an awesome tip. I am a Picasa fan and did not know that trick. Many thanks! Tim

To lighten the dark areas I have done the following successfully: Use Picasa (free from Google). Choose one photo in the dark area and slide the "Fill Light" slider to somewhere in the range of 20-50%. Choose (menu) Edit/Copy all Effects. Goto the picture set, select all the pictures and then (menu) Edit/Paste all effects. Hit the "Save to Disk" button above the top-right of picture set. Restitch the enhanced photos. It lightens the dark areas (but not the light areas) in a consistent way across the photos so that the stitcher is still happy. Picasa will move your original photos to a "Originals" directory so, don't worry, they are safe. You can even ask Picasa to undo all edits, and things will be back to how they were when you started. This is the perfect type of Gigapan to benefit from this procedure.
