The second or third thing I notice when I travel to the 'old' world is the intertangling of old and new. The sherbet booth set up between the stones of ancient monuments. The Modern architecture next to the Victorian (and to be honest, the faux/recreated Victorian) architecture. The interplay of flavors, the pastiche of culture and time. Time Pudding.
