110128 January, 2011, Goleta, California, Ellwood beach at low tide with Devereux slough and Coal Oil Point to the east (right) with the Santa Ynez Mountains are in the background. The Santa Barbara Channel and Pacific Ocean are at low tide. The oil tanks on the bluff take oil from the offshore platform, then load the oil onto offshore barges about once a week.
