gigapan.org/gigapans/most_popular/?q=long_nowFrom the text:
"Shows the placement of the Chime Generator inside an underground chamber.
This model represents about 30 vertical feet of what will likely be several hundred feet of vertical shafting leading up to the final Clock chamber. This vertical shaft will house the large stone weight that will store the energy for the Clock, the chime generator, bells, and speed governing system. This model shows three sections of what would be ten bell ringing stages. The bells would be hung above the chime generator.
This tunnel will be excavated by a twelve foot diameter raise bore through solid limestone. The stairs would then be cut by a custom robotically controlled diamond toothed belt saw."
