Description

Well, the title is a bit misleading, as this really isn't much of a skyline. It is a gigapan of the St. Catherine's Church in Frankfurt on the Hauptwache in Frankfurt, at the end of the Zeil pedestrian zone. It is the largest evangelical church in Frankfurt, a baroque church built in 1678-1681, destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt from 1950-1954. It is one of the Dotations Churches that has belonged to the city since 1802 and for which the city is required to maintain.

For many years the clock showed 9:30, the time of the destruction on 22 March 1944. The church is called the City-Church, given its very central and prominent location.

The Hauptwache is also visible here, another Frankfurt landmark: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hauptwache_ Will open in a new tab or window(Frankfurt_am_Main)

This baroque building, from 1730, was taken apart and rebuilt when Frankfurt built the subway tunnel below the building in 1967. Underneath the Hauptwache, no less than 13 subways meet (8 S-Bahn and 5 U-Bahn).
