110224 - Costa Rica, Area de Conservacion de Guanacaste (ACG), Volcan Cacao, Arenales

Traps out and bait down at 9am. Gigapan taken uphill from the creek under a fantastic canopy tree. Should be a Pachycondyla visible on the rock of the upstream direction. Temperature was 18-21C all day. Toledo birds singing after 12. 1 Agoti. Large ambulatory ponerinae and Gnaptogenys dominate here. Video of Pachycondyla, fight with bodies cut in half and lost legs, many small black Solenopsis-oids, small Pheidole colony entrance and Gnaptogenys burrowing into obscured colony entrance. 5hrs sampling.
