This is Ziegler Island as we saw it from the bridge deck of the 50 Years of Victory.
This was a rather flat island with little snow cover on this late July morning,
On our way to the island we encountered a polar bear waiting by a seal hole. We noticed hundreds of seals on the ice around the island. The seals emerge from breathing holes in melt pools, and don't linger long on the ice surface, especially with polar bears nearby.
