Founded in 1811, this picturesque village of Peggy's Cove (population around 50) is a treasured tourism destination in Nova Scotia. It's about a 45 minute drive from Halifax, and is on the Lighthouse Scenic Trail. There are several different stories about how the cove got its name, but my own favourite is that a little girl, Margaret, was the only survivor of a shipwreck offshore and she was taken in as an orphan and raised in the cove as "Peggy". This view up the cove is one of the most photographed scenes in Atlantic Canada. Down the road, though, is THE most photographed spot, the lighthouse and granite rocksat the mouth of the Cove --- which is another panorama, tag = "lighthouse".
