There are roughly 500,000 acres in South Florida that are heavily impacted by S. terebinthifolius. It forms monocultures on much of this area so there is also little hope that it will be eradicated.

Schinus terebinthifolius is called Christmas Berry in Hawaii, as it's red fruit matures in December out here. Schinus mollis is called Brazilian Pepper in HI. Both are weeds, but the Christmas Berry is so out of control there is no hope of eradication. :^(
