A long shot from the hill above town.
The sun has not set on Kotzebue since June 3, and we are getting ready for summer. Most of the sea ice is gone. Some of the more adventurous boaters are braving the ice chunks that linger, well hidden, at the surface in the Sound. The tundra is starting to turn green, but we don't see many flowers yet.
In town, we have several construction projects underway. Probably the most obvious one is the new hotel that will grace Front Street.
Change comes slowly in the Arctic, but it does come. Have a look around town and see what has changed since July 22 2007 www.gigapan.org/gigapans/1327/
The 42 images of this panorama were photographed with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and stitched with Autopano Pro.
