The harbor at Portland Roads. There are a few holiday houses here, and nothing much else north of the Lockhart River Aboriginal community. During WWII this was a busy port, carrying material for the possible defence of Cape York against invasion. There was a very large jetty that gave access to deep water. All that is left is the small pile of rocks from which I took this panorama. A technical note--the panorama was taken with the Gigapan rig mounted on a monopod, braced by a couple of hiking poles and some fence wire. I had to hold it steady throughout the process because it was very windy. Don't forget your tripod!
