Description

The floating peat mat to the left supports some plants rarely found outside of cold, nutrient poor, peat bogs. Where the two-meter thick peat mat is not floating, trees and tall shrubs outcompete the bog plants. Much of the 50 acres of peatland surrounding Molly Bog supports a conifer swamp with spruce, larch, hemlock, and eastern white cedar. Wading through chest-high cinnamon fern under this forest is a more tropical experience than I expected in this boreal habitat.

    The old lens used has no electronic connection to the camera, causing the EXIF data to be incomplete. The jpg files produced by Adobe Lightroom present the missing data fields in a manner which GigaPan Stitch does not interpret well, and the Stitch Notes does not include these values: Camera make: Nikon... Camera model: D40... Aperture: f/22... Exposure time: 1/60 second... ISO: 200... Focal length (35mm equiv.): 166mm... White balance: daylight... Exposure mode: manual
