Selkirk Common Riding is a festival which commemorates the return to the town from the Battle of Flodden in 1513, of Fletcher. He was the only one of the townsmen who survived the battle and came home with an English Flag. After the riding of the towns boundaries and the Casting of the Colours in the town Square, the flag is returned to the Provost. This year's standard bearer was Michael Craig. This gigapan is about 300 shots taken on my Canon SX1. I scanned the sky and spire before the ceremony started and then paused on the platform until Standard Bearer Craig was casting the flag. I then continued to the end. Of course there are stitching errors as the crowd just wouldn't stand completely still for long enough!!!!! The weather was dry but sadly the sky wasn't blue with fluffy white clouds this time. More photoshopping needed!! If you register with gigapan, you too can add thumbnail snapshots at the bottom. Try these ones too share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=25995 and share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=26053
