On May 2, 2011 the Army Corps of Engineers used explosives to purposfuly breach the Birds Point Levee and flood the Birds Point -- New Madrid Floodway to relieve flooding pressure on Cairo, IL. This image shows "Inflow/Outflow Crevasse #1", which is near the southern end of the Birds Point -- New Madrid Floodway, east of the town of New Madrid.
