For the nearbynature event I traveleld a short distance south of New Orleans to the amazing Jean Lafitte Park. The park features well maintained elevated trails which
span several miles of the natural swampland. The palmetto trail, shown in this gigapan is about as lush as vegatation can get and in some places the trail is surrounded
by 6-7 foor tall palmettos. There is much more to photograph here, including American Indian shell middens and the nearby sleepy Bayou Coquille said to be one of Privateer Lafitte's smuggling routes into New Orleans.
This is my first time making a gigapan of such a close-up subject, and there are some minor stitching errors from wind. For the row I took to depict the upper trees I changed the point of focus to render these more clearly.
