This is the extraordinary view from Rancho Pacifico's dining terrace -- a worthy reward for a four kilometer trek up a steep and winding mountain road (make sure you have a 4x4, or better yet, have the hotel staff pick you up).
Rancho Pacifico is a luxury resort nestled in the Costa Rican rain forest, 550 meters above the coastal town of Uvita. Off the coast of Playa Uvita lies the famous Whale's Tail -- a natural formation of sandbar and rocks that at low tide looks like the tail of a whale jutting out to sea.
