Como un homenaje a ZAPATA, ilustre ilustrador queremos que su mural sea visto 100.000 veces en todo el mundo, colabora pasando esta giga.
Pedro León Zapata, pintor, escritor, caricaturista y humorista venezolano, nació en La Grita, estado Táchira, el 27 de febrero de 1929. En 1945 ingresó a la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Caracas. En 1947 se retira de este centro para intervenir en la fundación del Taller La Barraca de Maripérez, donde expone sus primeros trabajos e inicia su labor de caricaturista. A finales de 1947 viaja a México para aprender las técnicas de los muralistas y realiza estudios en el Instituto Politécnico Nacional de México, en la Escuela de La Esmeralda y en el taller de Siqueiros. También trabajó como profesor en la escuela de Bellas Artes de Acapulco. Zapata, mientras vivió en México, no hizo caricaturas.
Zapata es el autor del gigantesco mural de cerámica titulado "Conductores de Venezuela" (1999), de más de 1.500 metros cuadrados de superficie, 150 metros de largo por 11,5 de alto, está compuesto por 40.000 lozas de 20x20 centímetros., que ilumina parte del perímetro norte de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, en Caracas, cubriendo el muro de contención del límite norte de la Ciudad Universitaria, que la separa de la autopista Francisco Fajardo. Zapata continúa su vida artística como conferencista, docente, hombre de radio y televisión. Ha realizado para el teatro diseños de vestuarios y escenografías y es autor de una pieza titulada "Venezuela Herótica".GPS: 10.4948378N, 66.8862462W

Pedro Leon Zapata, painter, writer, cartoonist and humorist Venezuela, was born in La Grita, Táchira state, on February 27, 1929. In 1945 he joined the School of Fine Arts in Caracas. In 1947 he retired from the center to participate in the founding of La Barraca de Maripérez Workshop, which explains his early work and began his work as a cartoonist. In late 1947 he traveled to Mexico to learn the techniques of the muralists and studying in the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, School of La Esmeralda and Siqueiros's workshop.
