Commercial wine production was done on this land from the 1880s until phrobition. The wine produced here won a competition in 1888 in France leading to recognition of the value of the Valley's consistant micro-climates and soil types. This land has not been in grape production for almost a hundred years and is surrounded bymore than 50 modern wineries.
