111203 - Costa Rica, Area de Conservacion (ACG), Volcan Orosi 1,200m

Up early this morning to start long hiking to 1,200 m at Orosi from the Maritza station is at 600m. After three hours of hiking I reached the sample site. Not quite cloud forest, but as far as I can hike while ensuring that I can sample for a sufficient amount of time and still get out of the forest by the time it gets dark. The most common ant at this sampling site was a large, red, Aphaenogaster. On the walk down, at about 1,000m, there was about 20m of trail that was covered in tapir droppings.
